I have the good fortune to live in southeast Texas. Since this has been home for most of my life the climate suits me. It never gets really cold and sometimes very hot. There is most always something to do outside.
Freeport, Texas, is a short drive. It is a nice little city on the Gulf of Mexico at the mouth of the Brazos river. The beach here is nothing special, I have seen nicer. But it a great place to go to get outside for a while. One good thing about the beach here is that it is not crowded and still a bit wild. There is not so much traffic to compel a ban on traffic. On the other hand there is enough use to get the local governments to pay attention to safety and keeping things clean. These pictures were taken on the fourth of July a few years ago. There were a good number of folks at the beach that day, mostly families. Everyone was having a good time. It did not feel like I was off on my own, but there was enough room stay out everyone's way and for them to stay out of mine.
I got there late in the afternoon. It was after the hot part of the day and things were very laid back.
There were enough clouds to make the sky interesting. I am sure they had also provided some shade earlier.
These are the dunes behind the beach. It looks just wild enough for me.
The coast here is very low and hurricanes can push in a lot of water. Beach house here a build on stilts. These look they are built well enough to survive a storm.
Another great sunset over the Intercoastal Waterway.
